MCMC updates IPv6 certification

UPDATES ON CERTIFICATION OF IPV6 OVER CELLULAR EQUIPMENT WITHOUT WIFI INTERFACE (UNDER TERMINAL/HOST) OR IPV6 EQUIPMENT OVER OTHER MEDIUM (E.G: FIBER OPTIC ETC. EXCEPT ETHERNET LAN) UNDER INTERIM TYPE APPROVAL

On July 11, 2024, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) announced the interim Type Approval for IPv6 cellular equipment, excluding those with WiFi interfaces or IPv6 equipment using other media (e.g., fiber optic, except Ethernet LAN), has been extended for another year, effective from July 10, 2024, until further notice. This means that new applications and renewals of Certificates of Conformity (CoC) are permitted with a maximum validity of one year.

During this interim approval period, applicants can conduct the required tests at any accredited or approved laboratory and submit the test reports for evaluation by SIRIM. Full approval will be granted if the IPv6 over cellular interface or other media fully complies with the IPv6 requirements.
