Anatel establishes requirements for certification of equipment with NB-NTN technology and other IoT communication standards
New certification rules aim to promote the use of advanced technologies for terrestrial and satellite IoT applications in Brazil
Anatel approved Act No. 2105, of February 14, 2025, which updates the technical requirements for assessing the conformity of Access Terminal Stations (ETA) and Cellular Mobile Telephones.
With this update, new requirements were incorporated for the certification of equipment that employs emerging technologies aimed at the Internet of Things (IoT). Among the innovations contemplated, the conformity assessments for devices that use technologies such as 5G NB-NTN (Narrow Band Non-Terrestrial Networks), 5G Redcap (Reduced Capability) and 4G LTE Cat 1bis stand out.
