Sirim Type Approval

Private certification body Sirim QAS International issues type approval for telecommunications and radio equipment to be imported, sold or used in Malaysia. Some equipment types require in-country testing at Sirim's laboratory or at the laboratories of the incumbent telecommunications carrier, but approval can be issued based on review of foreign standard test reports in some cases.

Non-telecom ITE is any information technology equipment -- essentially any device with a microprocessor -- that has no telecommunications or radio interface. This includes products such as computer printers and monitors, as well as many types of local area network (LAN) equipment.
